This Operational Briefing “Protection of Public Spaces Policy Recommendations” has been published by the PRotECting public spaces thRough Integrated Smarter Innovative Security (PRECRISIS) action, funded by the European Union Internal Security Fund (ISF). The primary purpose of PRECRISIS is to strengthen the protection of public spaces by preventing terrorist attacks and violent crimes and mitigating their impacts.
The PRECRISIS Operational Briefing is a series of publications providing access to issues raised, challenges presented, and lessons learned throughout the programme of PRECRISIS research and innovation. The programme of PRECRISIS Operational Briefings are accessible via the PRECRISIS website: https://precrisis-project.eu/.
Each of the PRECRISIS Operational Briefings have been designed to inform and add value to all stakeholders engaged in delivering safety and security at public spaces from all manner of contemporary threat vectors. In this Operational Briefing a suite of recommendations are presented for discussion and consideration for all stakeholders engaged in public space protective security. These recommendations have been drawn following the synthesis of key findings, operational insights, and expert reflections derived from direct engagement with practitioners, evaluation activities, and stakeholder consultations throughout the PRECRISIS programme of research and innovation.
The PRECRISIS consortium of partners take this opportunity to thank Policing Insight for publishing the series of seven articles at regular intervals between 2023-2025, serving to raise awareness of critical issues impacting upon the protection of public spaces.
